• Welcome to the PNI Practicum

Project-based courses in Participatory Narrative Inquiry (PNI). Learn by doing with the help of an expert coach in a group of your peers.

What’s PNI? It’s a form of Participatory Action Research in which groups of people share stories about their experiences to make sense of situations together. Researchers, teachers, facilitators, organizers, managers, designers, and other helpers use PNI to help people discover insights, catch emerging trends, make decisions, generate ideas, resolve conflicts, and build connections.

What’s the PNI Practicum? It’s a set of online project-based courses in doing PNI. Every student in every course does a real PNI project, whether it’s one big project or your own custom project.

Changes are coming

As of this writing (September 5, 2026), I am working to convert all of my PNI Practicum courses from a pre-scheduled basis to an as-requested basis. If you want to take a course, send me an email, and I will add you to my list of interested people for that course. Once any of these lists reaches four people, we will have a Zoom call to talk about when we can meet. I will ask for payment just before the course starts. To reduce costs, I am also working to move all of the material from this web site (which is on TrainerCentral) to my own static web site. Of course, all of my course materials will be available for anyone to download and use, as before.
